Something New

tucked-in

You know that saying, “There is nothing new under the sun”? I have come to accept that as true, but what a totally downer thing to say. What’s the point of being creative, letting your imagination fly, if some neggy nay-sayer is just going to come along and discount everything with that expression?

I have something else to say.

“But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed.”

Isaiah 43:18-20

Do you see it? Something new! And this was written in approximately 740-701 B.C. That’s pretty old, but it still breathes hope of something new! I want to hold on to the hope of something new. I am ready for a path through my own personal wilderness. I can see the waters springing forth and creating lush green life in a dry, dead wasteland.

Though I am living in Florida again, and constantly sticky in the summer humidity, there is so much death and drought in my life. As much as I don’t want to admit it, I am still grieving the loss of my father and uncle earlier this year. Literal death has had a reverberating effect on me as I continue to walk through grief. Additionally, I am looking for work again, and I am facing financial death. There is also relational death in my life, but I don’t want to dive into about my romantic life at this time. Nor do I want to get hung up on all this death.

I am believing good is coming. Do you not see it? I do, there is water bubbling forth! I see the local critters and birds coming to drink the fresh, sweet water. Life is springing forth everywhere there was once death. There is also rain that gives us a break from the scorching heat. The breezes blow about the trees and show me that it is possible to manage the hottest of summers in Florida practically living outside. Bring on the rain!

Stay tuned to find out where this new path leads and what this refreshment will look like in my life. Oh, and speaking of new things, in case you haven’t noticed or you’ve never been here before, I have revamped my website again! Kiss Kiss!!
